It’s far between humans (3.3 people per square kilometer), but really close between animals.
The sunset is beautiful all over the world, but my favourites are by the beach…
…and in the dessert.
You walk in the semi dessert, and suddenly there is a big soft dune. Some white as snow, others golden, some yellow and a few deep deep red. In places you even find black sand.
The sweet smell is spread with the wind across the dessert, giving the magical atmosphere even more magic.
What else is paradise?
The Mauritanian traditions are well kept and almost everywhere you can sleep in a haima.
In the dessert. In the towns. By the beach. Everywhere.
It’s almost prettier inside the haima than outside.
Beauty with almost no tourism. That is Mauritania to me. If you want to explore untouched dunes, eternal beaches and amazing hospitality, go now. Before the tourists find their way back (which I hope is soon).
